nature trails and for environmental education centers,
Leaf Critters® LLC offers a unique set of 20 interpretive signs that
feature the Leaf Critters® characters.
Let Oakster™, Pinen™, Shuggie™ and the gang introduce their home
trees like no other being can! Trail-goers will leave (snicker!)
remembering the Leaf Critters® and their names. You will hear those
who take a Leaf Critters® demarcated trail speak aloud, “Hey!
There’s a Shuggie™!” They will say the name of the character and
really get to know the tree by name as they continue along the
trail. That is the sound of engagement and learning!
Offer the Be-Leave™ pins for sale or as a reward
for taking the trail. We all know how kids love to collect leaves,
but this is not what the forest needs. The nutrients left from leaf
litter (those leaves that don’t fly far from the tree and become
Leaf Critters®) are critical components of good topsoil as they
decompose.
Have trail takers collect a Leaf Critters® character instead of a
leaf. Proceeds from sales could help toward the upkeep of the
trails.

Standard Interpretive Signage for Nature Trails and

We offer 20
standard interpretive signs. All signs are 10 x 12.5”,
aluminum, full-color, and weather- and UV-resistant for 5-10 years.
Signs are now available for: Birch, Cherry, Dogwood, Elm, Fir,
Holly, Ironwood, Magnolia, Maple, Red, Striped Maple, Sugar Maple,
Red Oak, White Oak, Papaw, Pine, Tulip Poplar, Redbud, Sassafras, Sweetgum, and Sycamore trees.

Celebrate Trees Set
Trail Guide Activity Sheets
If you're
running a class at your Nature Center or Summer Camp, consider these
activity sheets for the group.
Five Leaf
Critters® characters (Shuggie™, Oakster™, Sassie™, Douggie Fir™, and
Tulie™ Poplar) introduce their home tree vividly and in written and
pictured detail. A different learning pack of 5 new Leaf Critters®
characters will be released each year. Learning Pack #1 contains two
sets of 5 Leaf Critters® each with a coordinating sheet with winter
tree outline, drawings of flower and fruit, hardiness zones map with
region where this tree thrives, and distinctive facts about the
tree. Students read about the tree and its different parts as they
color in Shuggie™ and the other drawings. By the end of the unit,
the entire group will be very familiar with five of our nation’s
most prolific trees!
